Answer: NO! Memory can function and still have errors such as: open solder joints, missing parity chips, crosslinked connections, speed conflicts, speed mismatching, parity errors, functional defects, EDO functionality and other errors. Memory can cause an almost infinite number of errors. From the simple annoying general protection faults that make you lose the project you have been working on, to the ongoing memory errors which crosslinked your data and still allow your computer system to work. That is, until the day when the RAM cross links into the wrong segment of data and causes a complete system crash causing all of your reports and accounting data you have been saving for years to be lost.
Question: Why not just use a software diagnostic to test my memory? Answer: Software diagnostics cannot fully determine whether a memory chip is good or bad. In fact, there is no way for a piece of software to test the true functionality of a chip. With a hardware test device, each chip can be correctly identified and tested.
Hardware Testing At Net's we use Darkhorse Systems memory test equipment. We are able to test 30 pin simms, 72 pin simms, 144 pin SOdimms, 168 pin dimms, and 168 pin SYNC SDRAM dimms.
